What an amazing day of learning at the CUSD Instructional Summit! It was wonderful to see all of our instructional staff under one roof for this morning’s keynote with Holly Clark. Sessions focused on giving students what they need to be successful while they are with CUSD, and to have choices about their future after they graduate. A reminder that Friday, Nov. 1 is a non-student day as our staff participate in a district-wide Instructional Summit. We’ll look forward to seeing students back at school on Monday! 🚨 Children will be out and about this evening. 👻💀🧙‍♀️🍭 If driving or Trick-or-Treating, keep a wary eye out. 👀 For more tips like these from safekids.org, please visit https://www.safekids.org/tip/halloween-safety-tips: 🎃 Carry glow sticks or flashlights, use reflective tape or stickers on costumes and bags, and wear light colors to help kids see and be seen by drivers. 🎃 Join kids under age 12 for trick-or-treating. 🎃 Slow down and be alert! Kids are excited on Halloween and may dart into the street. Turn on headlights early in the day to spot kids from further away. 🎃 Remind kids to cross the street at corners or crosswalks. 🎃 When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls. Choose face paint instead of masks when possible. Masks can limit children’s vision.

Friday, Nov. 1 is a non-student day as staff participate in professional learning during our district-wide Instructional Summit. A new attendance month will begin for students on Monday, November 4. Congratulations to our 2024 ASES Intramural Flag Football #Champions, the Lucas Elementary DLA Owls! The Owls played a close match against the Virginia Parks Panthers, with both teams leaving it all on the field. 🏈 CUSD’s ASES program provides FREE after-school care to enrolled students up to 8th grade. Through our partnership with Turlock Sports Park, students in grades 4-6 can receive free coaching and participate in after-school sports!
