Baseball

Varsity: Central Valley 3, Beyer 1

JV: Central Valley 11, Beyer 1

The Hawks continued the hot start to WAC play with a tight 3-1 win over the Beyer Patriots.  CV relied on their ace pitcher, Chris Garcia, who had all his pitches working on Tuesday afternoon.  Chris broke a school record by striking out 16 Patriots on his way to collecting the victory.  In just 13 innings of league play, Chris has recorded an astonishing 31 strikeouts.  Offensively, the Hawks had multi-hit games from Mason Whitworth (RBI), Caden Mendonca, and Isaias Valdovinos (RBI). The Hawks are now 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the WAC.  CV will look to sweep the Beyer series as the Hawks travel to Modesto today to take on the Patriots at Beyer High.

Softball

Varsity: Beyer 5, Central Valley 1

JV: Beyer 11, Central Valley 6

The Hawks dropped a WAC contest to the Beyer Patriots by the score of 5-1.  Even with the loss, the Hawks are still right in the mix near the top of the WAC standings.  Beyer holds down first place, but there are several league teams log jammed in the top spots.  CV’s overall record is now 7-3 and 1-1 in WAC play.  The Hawks will look to get back in the win column tomorrow when they travel to Livingston to take on the Wolves.

Boys Volleyball

Varsity: Central Valley defeats Grace Davis 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 25-27, 25-16, 15-9)

JV: Central Valley defeats Grace Davis 2-0 (25-21, 25-17)

The Hawks bounced back from the loss to Ceres on Monday night with a thrilling win over the Grace Davis Spartans.  This match was toe-to-toe from the very beginning as both teams exchanged runs throughout the night.  The Hawks fell in set 1, but bounced back in set 2.  This back and forth battle continued until the very end, as the Hawks were able to gain control of the 4th set and harness that momentum through set 5 for the win.  CV is now 2-2 in WAC play which puts them in the middle of the standings.  The Hawks will be back in action this Friday when they travel to Pacheco to take on the Panthers.

Boys Golf (from last Thursday)

The Hawks hosted WAC tournament #1 last Thursday at St. Stan’s.  The young CV squad held their own and finished in the middle of the pack.  The Hawks will compete today in WAC tournament #2 at Creekside in Modesto.

Stunt Cheer (from last Thursday)

Central Valley 16, Lathrop 8

In their league opener, the Hawks defeated the Lathrop Spartans by the score of 16-8.  CV is now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the VOL.  We compete in the VOL for Stunt Cheer because the league is combined with schools from various leagues and the Section designated our placement in the VOL.  The Hawks look sharp early in the season and appear to be in the running for a league title.  CV will continue their quest for success tonight when they travel to Mountain House to take on the Mustangs.

Boys Tennis
