Varsity: Central Valley 4, East Union 2
JV: East Union 4, Central Valley 2
The East Union Lancers came into yesterday’s game on a 4-game winning streak, including a tournament championship over the weekend defeating the Turlock High Bulldogs in the title game. The Central Valley Hawks weren’t impressed with these accolades as Nick Dominguez quieted the hot Lancer bats with 5 solid innings; allowing just 1 hit, 0 earned runs, while collecting 5 strikeouts. Hunter Shaw pitched the last 2 innings and nailed down the save for the Hawks. Central Valley would grind out the 4-2 win to move their overall record to 4-3. Offensively, the Hawks were led by Fernando Dominguez who went 2-3 with 2 RBI as he continued to ignite the CV offense. The Hawks will look to keep thing going today as they travel to Gregori to take on the Jaguars. CV has played a tough pre-season schedule, but the Hawks are battling while they prepare for WAC play which we begin next week.
Boys Tennis
Central Valley 9, Johansen 0
The CV boys tennis team went to Johansen and dominated the Vikings 9-0 to pick up their first WAC win of the season. The Hawks did drop their league opener on Monday to Grace Davis by the score of 8-1, but several of those matches were tighter than the final score would indicate. CV is now 1-1 in WAC play and will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Beyer.
