Baseball

Central Valley 5, Linden 4

The Hawks continued their solid start to the 2025 season with a well-earned road win last night at Linden.  The Hawks totaled 5 hits led by Fernando Dominguez’s RBI double. A 4-run 4th inning for the CV offense was the difference in this one as Nick Dominguez (win) got it done on the mound with 5 IP, 10 K’s, 5 hits allowed, and 3 earned runs.  Caden Mendonca nailed things down for the save with 2 innings of work including 2 strikeouts.  The win puts the Hawks non-league record at 3-1 as CV will continue a busy travel week.  The Hawks will next make the short trip to Turlock on Wednesday to take on the Pitman Pride which will be followed a much longer trip on Friday to Elk Grove to take on Laguna Creek.  The Hawks do have 2 home games next week when they host East Union (Thursday 3-6) and Gregori (Friday 3-7).

 

Softball

Hilmar 8, Central Valley 7

The Hawks let one get away last night as they squandered an early 7-0 lead and the Yellowjackets came back for the 8-7 walk-off win.  It will be an early season lesson learned for the Hawks as they continue to prepare for league play which will begin the week of March 10thGabby Delatorre had a big offensive game for the Hawks as she was 3-4, 2B, 2 RBI.  Abigail Krauss was 2-3 with a run scored and Brooklynn Steeley was 2-4 with an RBI.  The loss drops the Hawks to 4-2 overall this pre-season as CV will look to get back on track this Wednesday when they travel to Downey to take on the Knights.
