The Varsity Boys Soccer team continued their solid play this week with 2 crucial CCC wins.  Last night, goals by Yahir Perez and Alexis Cervantes guided the Hawks to a clutch 2-1 win over a talented Patterson team.  The Hawks are now 14-6-1 overall and 5-1 in CCC (2nd place).  Next Tuesday, the Hawks have a chance to avenge their only league loss as CV (5-1 CCC) will host Golden Valley (6-0 CCC) at 5:45pm.  The winner of this contest will have the inside track to the league title.  The top 4 teams in league will qualify for the SJS Playoffs.

Varsity: Central Valley 0, Patterson 0 (from Thursday)

The Varsity Girls Soccer team started off the New Year in a positive fashion with a couple of strong efforts this week.  The Hawks had a dominant win over the Merced Bears by the score of 3-0 and then CV played to a 0-0 draw against a Patterson team that is the defending CCC champion and currently undefeated in league play.  The Hawks have a solid hold on 2nd place (4-1-1) while they will get another chance at Patterson (5-0-1) on February 6th.  The next league matchup for the Hawks will be next Tuesday when they travel to take on the Golden Valley Cougars (3rd place in league).  The top 3 teams will qualify for the SJS Playoffs.

The CV Wrestling program has had a very solid start to the New Year as the Hawks took a total of 6 out of 6 contests in league this week.  The Varsity Boys appeared to suffer a heart-breaking loss to El Capitan on Tuesday night with a narrow 38-37 loss, but the official scoring was deemed to be inaccurate by the league commissioner and the Hawks ended up with the 39-38 win!  Their were multiple incorrect ruling by the official that were overturned to give the Hawks the victory.   CV followed this up with a dominant performance last night against the Atwater Falcons in a 51-27 win. The Varsity Boys are now 3-1 in CCC play which puts them in 2nd place with 2 Dual meets to go (Merced, Patterson).   The Varsity Girls picked up 2 CCC wins this week, including a 1-point win over their rival, the Atwater Falcons.  The CV and Atwater girls programs have shared or won the girls CCC title all of the past 5 years.  This year the Golden Valley girls hold 1st place at 4-0, but the Hawks are now in 2nd place with a  record of 3-1.

Girls Basketball

Varsity: Buhach Colony 47, Central Valley 46

The Lady Hawks dropped an absolute heart-breaker last night as they were in search of their first CCC win and fell just short against the Buhach Colony Thunder.  CV will have another shot to snag a CCC win when they host the Golden Valley Cougars next Tuesday night.
